Writing and Editing for
Gwen Ellis has more than 35 years’ experience in editing, writing, ghost writing, and editing nonfiction books at all levels. She works with authors to deliver their hearts' messages to intended readers. Gwen believes manuscripts often go wrong at the very beginning because of structure and because authors do not truly know the messages they want to put forth. She specializes in analyzing manuscripts, writing proposals, and assisting writers in developing a smooth, coherent manuscript.
Gwen began her career as a freelance writer of curriculum and devotional material. She then went on to the everyday workplace to become an editor in chief of Bible studies, an award-winning magazine, nonfiction books, and a newsletter at Women’s Aglow Fellowship.
From there she worked at Focus on the Family as managing editor. A third job was as acquisitions editor for Servant Publishing—Vine Books. Next she became gift product director at the new Inspirio line at Zondervan. After a couple of years, she joined the fledgling team at Zonderkidz where she remained until formal retirement. At that time she established Seaside Creative Services, Inc., which continues today.
Gwen has written and ghost written more books than she can remember for multiple publications. She suggests you Google her name to see many of those books. Perhaps the book with the most influence so far, and one that is special to her heart, is the children’s book Read and Share Bible. It and its ancillary products have sold over a million units to date. One book she edited, God Bless America, made it to the New York Times and other bestseller lists for eleven weeks. She has also written a memoir of growing up in Montana called Montana’s Child.
For many years Gwen taught regularly at writers’ conferences, MOPS groups, and other venues. She is a graduate of Evangel University, earning a BA in Religious Education. Additional courses include a writing course at a community college, and the Stanford Publishing Course.
Gwen’s passion is to help writers tell their story. She is here to help you tell yours.
