Collaborative writer, and
New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author, Julie Cantrell has published four novels and a collaborative work of creative nonfiction while also contributing to nearly two dozen titles and editing more than 80 fiction and non-fiction manuscripts. Her books have earned literary recognition and starred reviews from both Publishers Weekly and Library Journal.
A TEDx speaker who served two years as editor-in-chief of the Southern Literary Review, Julie was honored to receive a Mississippi Arts Commission Literary Fellowship and to be named a short-list finalist twice for the Mississippi Arts & Letters Fiction Award, as well as a two-time short-list finalist for the Pat Conroy Southern Book Prize.
Published in numerous languages, Julie’s novels have received two Christy Awards, two Carol Awards, and the Mississippi Library Association Fiction Award. She also received the 2016 Mary Elizabeth Nelson Fellowship at Rivendell Writer's Colony, an honor awarded to a writer who “encourages spiritual growth, healing, and care through his or her work.”
In the last two years, Julie has focused more on working as a developmental editor, collaborative writer, and ghostwriter.
In addition to helping novelists, she’s also been working on memoirs by rock legend Zoro the Drummer, whose story of poverty, immigration, and determination to follow his dreams offers a timely tale of faith and family; biracial minister Christa Armstead, whose mother became pregnant with her as a teen by an abusive priest, leading to a landmark trial with Gloria Allred; and Jim Markham, celebrity stylist to the stars and self-made billionaire whose rags-to-riches-to-rags-to riches-again story inspires readers to never give up.
Julie also helped shape the first chapters and proposal for blogger/influencer Naomi Davis’ upcoming nonfiction book, landing Davis a major book deal with Harper Collins.
With more than 20 years of experience, Julie has penned content for nearly every outlet type imaginable: Bibles, devotionals, blogs, newspaper and magazine columns, websites, radio spots, newsletters, grants, and corporate copy of all kinds. She’s most interested in stories that offer hope, healing, and positive inspiration.
