A former editor in the Bible Department at HarperCollins Christian Publishing/Zondervan, Donna Huisjen has for several years enjoyed full-time writing and freelance editing. Huisjen's published works range from devotionals to children’s poetry to Bible-based reflective works (The Bible on Families and Households: Scripture-Based Reflections on Family Dynamics) to a first novel. Her devotions, articles, study pages, puzzles, stories, and poems have appeared in numerous periodicals.
A college English major and ten-year Bible editor, Donna managed several award-winning projects, including the NIV Archaeological Study Bible, winner of the 2007 ECPA Christian Book Award, Bible category. Donna is proficient in areas from content- and copyediting to proofreading to indexing to gleaning to project mapping to writing and in genres from Bibles to trade books to novels to academic projects. Donna’s extensive biblical knowledge is a particular asset in her skills set.
The single adoptive mother of three now grown daughters, Donna makes her home near Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her hobbies—besides writing—include all things Grandma, volunteering, reading, acrostic puzzles, and cross stitch.
