Kimberly Shumate

Writer, Editor, ReVision Editor, Project Coach

During her twelve years with Harvest House Publishers, Kimberly discovered numerous new authors—finding success with various book deals, Christy nominations and awards, and Publishers Weekly star ratings—many establishing themselves as the fresh and relevant voices within the CBA market in both fiction and nonfiction genres. In 2009, Kimberly was pleased to launch Living Word Literary Agency where she continued to pursue her passion for helping new and hungry writers find a home within the publishing community.

The following year, Kimberly joined George Fox University as an Expert Advisor for Artifact II—that is guiding graduate students acquiring their PhDs through the process of transforming their academic dissertations into mainstream publishable works. In addition to this position, Kimberly now offers her fulltime freelance editorial services through ReVision Editing Agency, which she introduced in 2009.

Kimberly is a screenwriter whose works have placed in a variety of high-profile contests, such as Nashville Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, BlueCat, and the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowship. She is an author, freelance YouTube scriptwriter, article writer and blogger, and book contributor. She is a member of the ACFW, the Willamette Writers, and enjoys judging various writing contests, such as the Genesis, Lone Star, and First Impressions. She is also a sought-after speaker and instructor and finds joy in helping authors finish that heart-project that they will only trust to someone who understands its worth.

Kimberly has worked with and written content for publishers such as Koechel Peterson in coordination with Simon & Schuster, Penguin Random House, Kensington, Focus on the Family, Worthy Media, Multnomah, Harvest House, Bridge Logos, David C Cook, and Zondervan/HarperCollins.

It is Kimberly’s pleasure to work with first-time authors, who are still honing their skills, as well as established professionals needing that extra pair of eyes to identify typos, continuity issues, format problems, duplicated content, repetitive words/phrases, etc. With more than twenty years of experience, Kimberly has the tools to create, polish, and perfect your manuscript in order to get it noticed. You may even require an industry standard book proposal to go with your submission. Whatever the need, Kimberly can help.
